I wasn’t going to write a mid-week edition but I had some requests and there was something in the marketplace that I wanted to keep address and keep you up to date.
Firstly, I wrote a post about doing an online magazine and was amazed with the feedback. Thanks all who contributed and I think there’s great opportunity to create a new platform for people who want the right information, skills and resources to help them progress on their journey.
The post must have also hit a vein and I wanted to discuss some key points in more detail. Firstly, how much do you need to spend to be successful? Wrong question. Why do you want to be successful? Last weekend, I spent time with people who have spent a lot of money in the seminar game and still had no results. What was frustrating this time was that these people were genuine people, action takers who were promised a lot and got very little delivered. You know due diligence isn’t hard to do and I find that if you dig deep, you’ll realise how the game is engineered against you. It’s a vicious cycle that serves to validate both sides. The only choice you have is how you decide to play the game…
Let me tell you a personal story. Recently I met Deano Power from Byron New Media. We had coffee and a chat and he offered his social media services for my TedxByronBay event. Now to be honest, I thought Deano was just another internet marketeer wannabe. All fluff, hype and no substance. But he proved me wrong. By the end of the day, he sent me a summary of our discussion and went to work. As a result, within 2 weeks, our http://www.tedxbyronbay.com site was live and kicking and he has exceeded my expectations. It’s rare to have someone in this game that comes from a “business” point of view as oppose to an “opportunistic” point of view. Since then I have referred Deano some clients and he is very grateful and I’m very happy because I know those clients will be well looked after.
Many speakers spend a lot of money on their journey. One of my jokes is the first $100K is usually spent to deal with their ego and anything above that is a gift to themselves. And rest assured, there’s many people that are prepared to take your money before they deliver value. That’s how the old game worked. I still remember a guy who cleaned up on his first presentation and did over $150,000 but he failed to deliver the goods. As a result, no promoter will touch him again.
In the new education era, you’ll find more people giving tonnes of value before they ask for a cent. It’s a fine line because poor people always exhibit poor behaviour regardless of the environment. But when you get great people working together, you create an amazing energy that cuts to the core. One person who is giving tonnes of value is Jennie Armato. Jennie has been helping out as a guest advisor at my stepup mastermind events and provided heaps of value. She’s also created her own mastermind environment called the “CollabLabs”…which is very innovative and will play a pivotal role for people who want real progress in a supportive environment.
There’s always a price for success, whether you pay for it or not. I did my Apprenticeship and worked for 4 years for free. It was the best education and gave me huge perspective in the seminar game. Too many people want to emulate the outcomes of success without understanding the process. There are no secrets but great shortcuts and tips from people who have gone there before. I know one young punk who bragged about his results he achieved for a ‘international’ company, only to find out that he didn’t do a thing but rode on the coat tails of success. In this new education environment, the value and service you provide will be more significant that your bank balance. Be a creator or leader that has influence and makes impact…
Money comes in and goes out, always has and always will. But the decisions and choices you make with it, will determine how you grow…afterall, you are not only growing or dying but sometimes you can simply be “lost”. I’ve noticed that several members feel like they got a decade of clarity in a mastermind session because when you have a group that believes in you, you put yourself on a path of value and service and forget about the selfish life. A selfish life is playing small whereas a selfless life allows you the power and influence to create amazing opportunities for yourself and others who want to learn and grow with you.
You will never please everyone and most of your doubters exists to challenge your values and beliefs to ensure you become a person of depth and not just superficial transaction…
I hope you are having a great week…
Simplify Life,
CHEN
